What causes for skin aging - Photoaging ( 1 )

The main reason for skin aging is from photoaging ( sun damage ) and for your information, more than 90% of the skin therapies used for skin rejuvenation are targeted at the damages made as a result from repeated exposure to UV rays. They sunray consists of different wavelengths ( λ ) and the earth atmosphere blocks us from the x-ray but allowing UVA, UVB & UVC to pass through.

UVB ( ultraviolet B ) mainly causes potential skin cancer whereas UVA ( ultraviolet A ) is the one that mainly cause skin aging by breaking down the skin supporting structures, elastin and collagen. UVB can only penetrate into the outermost skin layer ( epidermal ). On the other hand,

UVA rays with its longer wavelength can penetrate even deeper into dermal area causing more skin destructions and the UVA can also penetrate into glass.
